Hey guys uhhh good chance the diamonds used literal torture to reprimand Pink Diamond.

We saw at the end of the episode that Yellow Diamond stuck Stevonnie in a pitch black cell to “think about what they’ve done”.

This immediately sent alarm bells ringing for me because I remembered an obscure hint from a year ago:

It’s brought up that gems don’t need food to live, because they get their energy from light instead. Alex Hirsch asks what would happen if a gem was placed in a dark room for a long amount of time.


Rebecca: I can’t answer that.


There’s a good chance this is the gem equivalent to starvation. And the Diamonds used it to reprimand Pink. That is torture.

Which YEAH, that’s shitty, don’t fuckin’ yank people around what the fuck dude. She deserved to have her ass beat and be poofed and bubbled probably, but not what happened next.

After she pulls Lapis down, she *asks* Lapis to fuse with her. She goes on to offer her the chance to get revenge on the Crystal Gems who, quite literally, kept Lapis prisoner in the mirror for thousands of years. That shit wasn’t Jasper’s doing at all. They KNEW Lapis was in there and the whole time Steven was trying to help Lapis escape, the CGs were trying to stop him. Like, it’d be kind of valid to ask “hey do you wanna get revenge on these nerds?”

And then she waited for Lapis to CHOOSE to fuse. She didn’t force her. Lapis held her hand out first.

They fused. Then Lapis took over, making it clear she didn’t want to use the fusion to attack the CGs but instead to hold get revenge on literally anyone by doing what she does best, isolating and continuing to torment herself. Like she did leaving to the moon and shit.

As Malachite is being dragged under, with water cuffs and chains, which is.. Lapis, you can SEE Jasper trying to unfuse while she’s screaming and saying “no”.

And then later, hey, look, Jasper’s STILL cuffed, arms and legs, chained to Lapis’s hands. Note that Lapis isn’t cuffed, it’s literally like a ball and chain with Lapis being the ball. 

People like to say “well Lapis was just trying to protect Steven” like no, she wasn’t. She made it clear over and over she was doing this for herself, for revenge, and Steven knew it wasn’t healthy or good at all for either of them. If she wanted to help, she would have 1. taken Jasper down herself because she’s OP as fuck and literally could easily just do that or 2. Let the CGs beat the shit out of Jasper instead of fusing, cuz at that point they literally could take her. 

Like, I genuinely love Lapis. I love her as a character, I love her story and her flaws. But it’s so reductive to her character to ignore that she was the one doing this to Jasper, not the other way around. Jasper deserved to have her ass kicked, not to be physically and psychologically tormented for months in a forced fusion lmao. That makes the story interesting and storywise I’m glad it happened! But I fuckin’ hate how some fans just. Completely misinterpreted it.

Just because someone’s Big and Mean doesn’t mean that when shit hits the fan they were the cause and the one in control.
